Commissions

I love commission work! It’s an incredibly rewarding experience working closely with a client to create a custom painting just for them…using my artistic experience to help bring their ideas into physical form.

If you’ve ever been curious about commissioning a painting, please reach out via the Contact form! I’d be happy to answer any of your questions about the process, and I’d love to discuss ideas with you!

Past Commission Work and Client Testimonials

Outside the Box

"Bryan made the experience of commissioning a painting of our grandson such a breeze. We told him a little bit about him, and he came up with an idea that precisely fit his personality. He told us how to set up photos, how to pose him, and the light direction. We sent him a few photos. He and his daughter created the props, and he came back weeks later with images of a beautiful painting that we are thrilled with. What impressed us was not only how he captured his image and spirit, but also how he was able to come up with a narrative painting that so fit everything about our grandson. How he thinks. How he plays. How he dreams. It will be a treasure for our family for generations to come."

‘Travelers’

24x36 inches, Oil on Aluminum Composite Panel 2022

“When my wife suggested that we should sit for a family portrait, I pictured us in front of a mottled blue screen uncomfortably sitting on a stool at Sears. It was a depressing, but I didn’t know what else to do. That’s when I saw a custom portrait commission Bryan did as a wedding present. It was absolutely beautiful and told me their story in visual form.

I contacted Bryan and we began to work on some ideas. He was supportive of my vision, and knew how to take my ideas and use his expertise to create a work that would reflect our values. It now hangs proudly in our house and I smile every time I walk past. My suggestion is that if you are thinking, even remotely, of doing a similar project – do it!”

‘The Lights of Home’

48x60 inches, Oil on Aluminum Composite Panel

I've appreciated Bryan's work for many years, and a commission allowed me to get a painting with personal touches that make it perfect for me. It was really easy to work with Bryan, from early sketches of different concepts through to a finished painting. I am not a very visual thinker and didn’t really know what I wanted the painting to look like in the beginning, though I did have content inspiration from his other work, color preferences, and other thoughts.

I was really happy with how he came up with ideas, explained various options, responded to feedback, and produced something I love. I never could have come up with it on my own, yet it still reflects my preferences and has personal meaning to me. It was a pleasure working with Bryan. I love the result and I hope to commission another painting in the future.

‘Free Will’

96x40 inches, Oil on Aluminum Composite Panel

I commissioned Bryan to create the painting “Free Will” after reading news accounts that brought this concept to mind.  Having seen his work, I knew immediately that he was the only person who could do it justice.  Bryan thought extensively about the idea, and we had several discussions about it before he sent me a rough sketch that absolutely nailed what I wanted.  I have essentially no artistic talent, and I left the creative process in his hands.  That said, Bryan contacted me a number of times when he was unsure his thinking was in line with mine.  It was a great experience to work with him.  I appreciated his regular updates and photos.  He listened carefully to me, continued to think carefully about what we had discussed, and executed the painting flawlessly.  Today “Free Will” is the dominant feature in our living room, and is a great conversation starter.  If you are looking for a work of art that speaks to your soul on a daily basis, I cannot recommend Bryan highly enough.
